Putin must be getting scared of Trump. I hope now that Trump stays on as effective US president until he has gotten the European Nato countries scared enough to honor their promise of a 2% BNP Nato financial effort.

Scared because he presents himself as unreliable and unhinged.

Nothing will hinder Putin in his effort to make (USSR)Russia great again more than a fully financed Nato.

It is Reagans ‘evil empire’ economic theory all over again; make the Russian economically broke with an arms-race they cannot a-fort.

The Netherlands made the 2% promise also, 5 years ago, but no party leader wants to be reminded that promisees  should be kept between allies.

We now spent 1.2 % on defense and the most belligerent party (standing alone on this subject in the field) would like to raise it to 1.4 %. 1.4 % being the European average.

0.2 % is € 2000 million (US $ 2.1 billion) so the full 0.8 percent backlog is US $ 8.4 billion. For that money  Mr Putin would face the 800 Dutch tanks we all sold in our illusion of the “ Peace dividend” again and twice as much JSF fighters, only from Holland. Imagine the effect of Trumponomics of all European countries to be faced by Russia.

I do suspect that Mr Trump will be surprised to find out he is the most anti-Russian president since Reagan, but that is prove of his unbelievable lack of intellectual depth in his political views. For Europe on this point he is a God-sent.

Living in Moscow I hit upon some information which throws an alternative light on the experiments cited in commanders Mitchell’s necrology.

In the early years of Soviet space research investigators found a report from around 1915 which gave a semblance of prove extrasensory communication was real.  

The story in the report was simple but stunning.  A very old man without a birth certificate and an absurd estimation of his own age, was proven to know details of the Napoleonic war which he could certainly not know if he had not been present. His story that he had been enlisted when 15 was dismissed. He was a Russian man, so stories about extreme old people from the Caucasus did not apply, if even believed.

When Ms. Jeanne Calment died at 122 years of age in 1997, it was proven that the old man could have been reliable, but that was to late for the Russian useless investment.  And nobody laid the link between her death in France and the secrets of the Russian space program.

Convinced they had the necessary proof of a method to cut the time factor out of interstellar communication, the Russian Space agency went on a large and well funded program to develop practically useful extrasensory methods for communication in their space program. It was financed for many years.

I am convinced Nasa and CIA knew about it.  And American astronauts probably heard some rumors  So I am not convinced a navy commander would do some unscripted work while on mission. I consider it more plausible that NASA did not want to look silly  with hocus spokes experiments and limited the people in the loop to the very minimum and did not take institutional responsibility.

Before the funding stopped, the Russians had funny experiments, such as training people to read with their fingertips. Not on Braille but on plain printed paper. How that could help to speed up interstellar communication I never understood.

Mijn directeur op  de directie Financiële  Hulp van Ontwikkelingssamenwerking (rond 1974), Peter Witte, was eerder in zijn loopbaan Eerste Handels-Secretaris op de ambassade in New Dehli. Hij vertelde mij ooit het volgende: Toen hij zijn overplaatsingstelegram kreeg wilde hij apart afscheid nemen van de Indiase zakenlieden die hem het meest ondersteund hadden.

Hij belde als eerste een zeer vooraanstaande zakenman en vertelde hem dat hij werd overgeplaatst. Of ze nog op korte termijn zouden kunnen gaan lunchen als (individueel) afscheid. De afspraak wordt gemaakt, maar de volgende dag belt deze kennis hem op en verwijt Witte dat hun vriendschap toch zodanig was dat hij niet met een smoesje om en lunchafspraak hoefde te vragen.

Peter legt uit dat hij deze  boosheid niet begrijpt, omdat hij echt wordt overgeplaatst. Hij stelt voor de vriend een kopie van het telegram te sturen omdat dat die, met zijn kennis van Engels, uit de tekst wel zou kunnen vaststellen dat er geen sprake van een smoesje was geweest.. De man excuseert zich en zegt hierover nog eens te zullen bellen met de uitleg. Die komt enige dagen later. Hij vertelt dat hij na het eerste telefoontje van Witte naar zijn astroloog was gegaan. De astroloog had meteen gevraagd waarom hij zo bedrukt binnenkwam en de zakenman vertelde dat een goede kennis van hem hem net had verteld dat hij India ging verlaten. De astroloog monterde hem op met de mededeling dat dat onjuist was.

Na de bevestiging van Witte dat hij echt overgeplaatst zou worden, was hij naar deze zeer bekende astroloog, die ook de astroloog van premier Gandhi was, teruggegaan om te vragen hoe het nu zat.

De astroloog zei toen, ik heb me gisteren op je droefheid gericht, niet op het hele plaatje. Het zit zo: “je vriend krijgt nog voor zijn vertrek  een telegram dat zijn overplaatsing

wordt herroepen. Dat komt omdat de Nederlandse ambassadeur in Tel Aviv sterft en daarom moeten  de overplaatsingen worden aangepast. Maar over 6 maanden krijgt je vriend een nieuwe instructie. Hij gaat naar Londen”.

Vanwege   de opmerking dat deze astroloog de astroloog van Mw. Gandhi was en op de ambassade bekend was hoeveel invloed  haar astroloog op haar beslissingen had, vertelde Peter Witte dit merkwaardige voorval in de stafvergadering.

Groot was de schok toen na enige tijd het bericht binnen kwam dat onze Ambassadeur in Israel, Jongejans,

gestorven was aan een hartaanval. En inderdaad kort daarna  ontving Witte het de opdracht voorlopig in New Dehli te blijven. En inderdaad kwam later het bericht dat hij in Londen geplaatst werd.

Peter Witte was volledig betrouwbaar en ik heb er bij hem op aangedrongen dit op papier te zetten voor Prof Tenhaeff, toen hoogleraar in de subfaculteit Parapsychology in Utrecht (sinds dien opgeheven). Dit omdat er getuigen waren die Tenhaeff zou kunnen natrekken, en omdat de rol van astrologen in de Indiase politiek hem zeker zou interesseren. Witte heeft dat helaas niet gedaan, en ik vond dat ik het recht niet had om dit dan toch bij Tenhaef aan te dragen.
